The Media Studies Department (MST) at UNCG held its inaugural New Academic Year Kickoff on Friday, August 29th. Spartan media community members gathered to celebrate, connect, play community games, and learn about new departmental initiatives.

The Kirkland Room at the Elliot University Center was full of new and returning students and MST faculty and staff coming together to build community. Professor Changhee Chun, the new department head, encouraged students to explore opportunities like Spartan Media Productions and the Summer Study Abroad Program in Korea. Each faculty member urged students to be present, proactive, and supportive.

The event highlighted the MST community and helped everyone look forward to the year ahead. After the presentations, students participated in outdoor activities and dinner, where they met new people, spoke with faculty, and learned about resources and expectations.
