Are you ready to turn your creative vision into reality in just one weekend?

Spartan Media Productions at the UNCG Department of Media Studies is proud to announce the 2026 Alphabet Soup 48-Hour Film Festival! This unique competition invites high school and university students, faculty, staff, and the public to create a film that celebrates Cultural Diversity and Community Engagement.

How It Works

You have exactly 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a short film (under 5 minutes) using a mystery prop that will be revealed at our kickoff event. Whether you are a solo creator or have a full crew, all experience levels and genres are welcome.

Key Dates & Events

All events will be held on the UNCG campus and live-streamed on our YouTube Channel.

  • Kick-Off Event: March 6 @ 12:00 PM (Rules & Prop Reveal)
  • Submission Deadline: March 8 @ 2:00 PM
  • Screening & Awards Ceremony: March 8 @ 7:00 PM

Awards & Prizes

Compete for glory and recognition in the following categories:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place
  • Best Use of Prop Award
  • Young Director Award (Under 18)
